The Universidad de Piura conferred Salcantay its recognition of Academic Excellence, a distinction granted to schools for the good academic performance of former students during their university life.
The UDEP Certification started in 2001, and benefits applicants who belong to the upper third during 3rd and 4th years of secondary and all the bimesters comprising 5th year of secondary with the exemption of the entrance exam at the moment of applying to the university, making an exception for the career of Medicine. It is necessary to submit the certificate issued by the school which evidences compliance with the requirements, in addition to a personal interview with a professor.
During the recognition ceremony, Dr. Víctor Baca, Director of UDEP’s Academic Program of Law expressed the responsibility held by schools to instill in students the desire to learn: “Universities, while forming professionals, are institutions that must be devoted to the pursuit of higher knowledge, to the development of science, to research. Therefore, universities want their students to fall in love with science, with knowledge and, for this reason, it is important that they arrive with a previous crush. This crush must happen over prior years in schools.”
